Scanned in this portrait I did a couple of years ago of my cousin Carissa. It’s a mix of watercolor, colored pencils, and markers. I later framed it and sent it to her as a birthday present. I think it captured some of her peaceful energy and positive attitude. :)

    dream: I cannot...you belong in the world of the sun. I come for you each night, and must return you each day...

    dreamchild: but living in the sun...it burns.

    dream: I cannot...

    dreamchild: then i'll hide in the shadowy realms of the after-dream, forcing myself deeper and deeper into the world that no one can penetrate...


    dream: don't be foolish, child. you do not want the world of night.

    dreamchild: help me, Dream...

    dream: oh but i do. in your dreams i send you your loved ones, i send you visions that make you forget your waking life...i send you love and wrap you in it, but you must remember, you must know, that only in the waking world can you truly create the visions i send...

    dreamchild: okay...but promise, promise me, that when things get too hard, all i have to do is close my eyes and you will take me away.

    dream: i promise.
